classes we offer
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was the start and remains the core of the school’s curriculum, the oldest and most established in the region. Absolute Jiu-Jitsu is an official affiliate program of the BJJ Revolution Team under Julio “Foca” Fernandez and Andrew “Judo Goat” Smith, the latter of which regularly teaches seminars at the school. The students are newbie white belts to brown belts, training is for all skill levels.
Absolute Jiu-Jitsu has been a force to reckon with over the years, winning over 600 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and grappling medals, the most success of any school in this region. There are classes for beginners and intermediate/experienced students.
The kid’s programs involve both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing for children beginning at age 5. The programs are designed to be light and “kid friendly” but also to instill discipline and respect in the context of teaching physical skills. Teaching involves brief instructional periods with frequent transitions to lots of practice to the keep the atmosphere fun, keeping within typical childhood attention tolerances. Both programs are noncompetitive and skill-based, also with various games and physical challenges. For kids ages 5 and up.
Bang Muay Thai
Absolute Jiu-Jitsu is an official affiliate program of Bang Muay Thai, with Duane “Bang” Ludwig giving periodic seminars at the school. The program teaches both fundamental and advanced kickboxing skills. There are classes for beginner, intermediate, and experienced students with the intermediate classes being fast paced and giving a challenging workout as well as skill development.
Mixed Martial Arts
Absolute Jiu-Jitsu has an excellent program for the development of mixed martial arts skills, for those interested in such, with the triad of solid programs in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, kickboxing, and wrestling. Indeed, the school has over 200 fight wins and numerous regional title belts from several organizations, the most success of any school in the region. While most of the students at Absolute Jiu-Jitsu are not competitive mixed martial arts fighters, this is the place to train if you want the best training for such. And, such training with each other is done rationally and carefully at our school with the understanding that “if you break your toys, you will have nothing to play with.”
Mixed Martial Arts
The wrestling program primarily involves instruction in take-downs and take-down defense for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts. For mixed martial arts, there is emphasis on modification of traditional take-down technique and defense for improved suitability to the cage environment and rules. For competitive wrestlers, additional instruction is also available.
